Ways to Enjoy
Light in flavour and sprinkled whole or ground, chia seeds can be added to cereals, yoghurt, fruit, salads, smoothies, juices and stir fries to increase nutrient intake. Super absorbent, they can also be included in baking mixes, protein balls, chia puddings, chia jam, and to make vegan “eggs”: A ratio of one tablespoon of chia mixed with three tablespoons of water creates a mix providing the moisture and binding properties of one egg.
Origins of Chia
An ancient superfood, the chia plant originates from the highlands of central and south America where they first sustained the Aztecs as a dietary staple and energy booster. Heat loving, it can grow in virtually desert - like conditions and produces beautiful purple, blue or white flowers.
